What accessibility does this online system support?

Accessibility is an important part of everything the Kingston Police does and our online presence is no exception. We're doing as much as we can to make sure that everyone can access the information they need.

The launch of our new Online Personal Information Check (K-PIC) is an important and large step toward meeting the Accessibility. This application was specifically designed to take into account visitors who are visually impaired or blind. It is fully compatible with popular screen reading software. Also, this website was designed for those who for a variety of reasons may not be able to use a mouse. This website can be navigated using the keyboard on your computer or using other assistive devices

The application uses Skip to Navigation and Skip to Contact links on every page so that you can quickly move to important information if you are navigating by keyboard or assistive devices.

The application also conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines of the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) (external link). We have gone above the WCAG A checkpoints and have complied to the Priority AA checkpoints.

This website — technically speaking — uses valid eXtensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML) 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.0.
